Death Mask Painting
Title:"King Frederick The Great Death Mask FRONTAL With OPENING Blue Eyes And Lively Working Decay Of Flesh".
(Contrary to this “(deadly) working decay- and awakening process” the antique wax-doll “Griselda” is closing now the eyes and her face breaks in pieces away.) J.A.BRO. ©
Created:25.9.1974.
Material:Mixed techniques on cardboard on hardboard.
Size:54 X 65cm.

"Death Mask Frontal" is furnished with the paradox of JABRO’S “Contrast-Pair” of death-mask’s "opening blue eyes" AND "lively working decay of flesh", by questioning (in a philosophical way) the mortal end state of death symbolised with its documenting, two-dimensionally painted mask.
Parallel to that given situation, "Griselda’s" face has to be seen as a crumbling-away, two-dimensional disc leaving empty beeswax pattern of rot.
However, JABRO’S famous "Contrast-Pair" is here too confirmed by the antique doll’s disintegration through decompose, but supplied with still living, now slowly closing eyes, symbolising end state of movements of those, but opposing situations. J.A.BRO. ©
