AUTUMN-TIME AFTER THE HOT SUMMER COMES THE COOL AUTUMN: Then the trees and meadows are no longer covered in colorful, delicate blossoms and everything is faded and fallen. Whoosh, when the autumn wind is blowing, the colorful leaves swirl and dance to the ground, first slowly and then faster and faster! Listen to the whispering, rustling voices of the withered brown leaves as you shuffle through with your feet. See how the branches of the trees suddenly look bare! But you need not be sad about it because there is a purpose for everything: First in spring and summer the sweetly smelling petals with their delicate colors and the bright flowers attract many hungry insects searching for sweet honey and yellow pollen. The busy bees, the humming bumble bees, the yellow-black wasps, the dancing mosquitoes, the colorful fluttering butterflies, and the red-black spotted lady birds. If you stick your little nose into a blossom and smell the perfume it will become yellow from pollen. The same thing happens to the insects. With their fine hairs on body and legs they carry the pollen from blossom to blossom. That enables the little seeds deep in the blossoms to grow and become ripe and turn into delicious fruits. |
