Title: | "Eat Or Die!" J.A.BRO. © (Antique "character" porcelain baby-doll of the German company Kestner, early Twentieth Century.) | Created: | May 1976. | Material: | Mixed techniques on cardboard on hardboard. Antique frame. | Size: | 57 X 67cm. | The themes of JABRO’S "Graphicpaintings’" are (more or less) based on the artist’s invented "Contrast-Pair", such as graphic and painting combined (sometimes intertwined) as a whole. They are created mainly with the two contrary colours of "Warm Red" and "Cold Blue" pointing out their different symbols and analytical meanings. In this extraordinary JABRO "Graphicpainting", the inset of the framed "warm-red" rose, is symbolically positioned into the right-hand-side top corner of the painting’s "cold-blue" background and its figure, "reaching out of the existing border" with its frame, as "painting in the painting", ©. |
